Jack Kaiser (b. 2004) is a composer based in Manhattan, New York. Growing up with heavy influence from both classical and contemporary American music, Jack’s compositions are characterised by a blended, post-genre sound. His works have been performed and recorded by ensembles such as the Ensemble Dal Niente, the Arneis Quartet, Newphonia, and the Dr. Phillips Jazz Orchestra. Jack is a 2023 National YoungArts Finalist. His string quartet, Migraine, was a winning piece in the 2021 National Young Composers Challenge and the 2022 Roosevelt University CCPA Young Composers Competition. He has also won the 2022 Society of Composers Inc. Pre-college Competition and second prize in the high school division of Frost School of Music’s 2020 and 2021 Ensemble Ibis Competition. Jack studies at the Mannes School of Music with David T. Little and completed high school at Interlochen Arts Academy with a focus in composition studying with Cynthia Van Maanen. While attending Interlochen, he worked closely with several student directors, writers, and choreographers on projects including Ihsan Zirih’s feature-length film Bad Behavior.
