Rowan Lemaster (b. 2004) is a composer, violist, and pianist from Cincinnati, Ohio. Heavily influenced by Romanticism, Rowan’s compositions combine the lush textures of the Romantic era with contemporary techniques. His works have been performed and recorded by ensembles such as The Julius Quartet, Newphonia, and the El Sistema Program, MyCincinnati. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in March, 2023 with a performance of his Oboe Sonata Welcoming, Denial, Acceptance, written for Joshua So. A graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy, Rowan now studies at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, pursuing a bachelor's degree in both music composition with Han Lash, and music education. His past teachers include P. Q. Phan, Don Freund, Cynthia Van Maanen, Renee Skerik, and Issac Selya. Additionally, he has also studied at the Interlochen Arts summer camp (viola) and the Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s High School Composition Intensive (HSCI). 

FUN FACT: Before choosing music as a career, Rowan was an avid archer, making the Ohio State Championship twice.
